1. Recently, I found out that I am a DNA match on Ancestry.com to Willie Anthony Bass III, who is my 3rd cousin. We are descendants of my 4th great grandparents of Morefield Hurst Turner (1827-1918) and Miley Woodson Bozeman (1830-1910). Willie Anthony Bass III's parents are Willie Bass Jr. (b. 1943) and Diane Stephanie Turner (b. 1945). My 2nd cousin Diane Stephanie Turner married Willie Bass Jr. on March 17, 1962, at Courtland, Virginia. Their children are my 3rd cousins Morrison Allen Bass (b. 1962), Willie Anthony Bass III (b. 1964), Katina Dianne Bass (b. 1977), and Edward O'Brian Bass (b. 1982). They were born and raised in the peninsula region of the 757 or Hampton Roads, Virginia. Willie Anthony Bass III married Genna Suzanne Armstrong on July 12, 1991, in Hampton, Virginia. They have many children including Mikayla Suzanne Bass (b. 1996) and Mike Bass. My 4th cousin Mikayla Suzanne Bass is married to Spencer Deon Taylor (b. 1993), and they have two daughters. One of their daughters is Makensie Taylor. Mike Bass is married to Ivyy Bebesotaa since July 19, 2023. They have a son together. Edward O'Brian Bass married Candace Rochell Bromell on October 17, 2006, at Wake, North Carolina. Their children are my 4th cousin who are Jordan Bass, Jayla Bass, and Ryleigh Bass. My 3rd cousin Morrison Allen Bass married Lisa Kay Waters (b. 1964) on August 18, 1987, at Newport News, Virginia. Their children are my 4th cousins who are Cherrice Shennel Bass (b. 1981), Shani Renee Bass (b. 1990), and Kevin Bass. Shani Renee Bass is married to Derrick Brown, and one of their children is Caleb Brown. They have another son too.
2. There is new information about my late 1st cousin Wilbert Randolph Faltz Sr. (1923-1985). He married Sarah Celesteen Wiggins. Their children are Anita La-Verne Faltz (b. 1954), Gloria Diane Faltz (b. 1957), Cathy Darlene Faltz (1959-2025), Walter Faltz Jr. (b. 1956), and Sherry Renee Faltz (1966-2017). Cathy Darlene Faltz lived form January 20, 1959, to May 17, 2025. She was born in Norfolk, Virginia. She was raised in a loving, Christian home. She was the second youngest sibling of her family. She had a calm demeanor and had a quiet and thoughtful nature. She graduated from Lake Taylor High School in Norfolk, Virginia (which is near the Outlet Mall). She loved music and used arts and crafts. She went to Garrett Community Baptist Church, where Bishop Johnny L. Reid was the pastor. Her daughter is Tina Maria Faltz Barns (b. 1981. Tina's husband is Antoine Damonte Barns Sr.). Cathy Darlene Faltz's grandchildren are Antoine Barns Jr., Tamiah Barns, and Tamari Barns, who live in Suffolk, Virginia. Her uncle is Reverend David L. Wiggins of North Carolina (his wife is Bernice), her Aunt is Bishop Mavis Goodman (her husband is Walter) of Suffolk, Virginia, her Aunt is Viola Warren (her husband is Lewis) of Norfolk, Virginia, and her Aunt Thelma Bell is form Philadelphia. Wilbert Randolph Faltz Sr.'s parents were Joseph Nathan Faltz Sr. (1901-1952) and my 2nd great-grandaunt Alice Rosetta Claud (1906-1988). The parents of Alice Rosetta Claud were my 3rd great grandparents Rev. James Thompson Claud (1857-1926) and Susanna Field Hurst-Turner (1862-1949). The mother of Rev. James Thompson Claud was my 4th great-grandmother Sarah Claud (1842-1892). The mother of Sarah Claud was my 5th great grandmother Zilphy Claud (1820-1893).
3. My late 1st cousin Ada Mary Turner Barber (1921-1973) was a great matriarch to many children, grandchildren, etc. She lived from 1920 to April 29, 1973, in Newport News, Virginia. He married Alfred Braxton Barber (1907-1989) on January 9, 1939, in Norfolk, Virginia. Their children, who are my 2nd cousins, are Trudy Mae Barber (b. 1951), Alfred Braxton Barber Jr. (b. 1952), Fleta Lorraine Barber (b. 1955), Pamela Delores Barber Alston (1959-1994), and Clara Barbara Giles (b. 1963). Trudy Mae Barber was born on March 1, 1951, and she married James Junior Hillard (b. 1952) on February 12, 1971, in Newport News, Virginia. Alfred Braxton Barber Jr. was born on August 26, 1952, and he married Jeanett Delphina Banks in ca. 1974. Fleta Lorraine Barber married Edward Charles Banks on July 27, 1974, in Newport News, Virginia. Edward Charles Banks passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2000, at Sentara Hampton General Hospital. He attended Menchville High School, and he was a self-employed contractor. He worked for Carrithers Reality. His parents are Mary Banks and Kenneth Harrell. His daughter or my 3rd cousin is Ada Redmon (she is married to Frederick Redmon. One of Ada Redmon's daughter is Olivia Redmon. Ada Redmon was born in 1975), and his sons are Edward C. Banks Jr. (b. 1976) and Michael Banks (b. 1980), from Newport News, Virginia. His granddaughter is Whitney Banks. Pamela Delores Alston married Carlton Levern Alston on April 8, 1989, at Newport News, Virginia. Pamela Delores Alston has many children like Elati Barber (b. 1975), Carleshia Lavonne Alston (1986-2001), John Lamont Ratliff Barber (b. 1980), Natasha Barber, Ronette Barber, and Pamela Barber. Clara Barber Giles married Milton Giles (b. 1960) on February 8, 1981, in Newport News, Virginia. One of their children is Timothy Giles.
4. There has been the recent passing of my 4th cousin's husband whose name is Juan Bosco Lascano. He lived from October 3, 1956, to February 24, 2025. He lived in Suffolk, Virginia before his passing at the age of 68 years old. He loved his family and community. His parents were Rafael Armando Lascano and Herenia Balbina Vogel. His brother was Cesear Lascano. His wife is my 4th cousin Darlene Byrd Lascano of Suffolk, Virginia. My 4th cousin Darlene Byrd Lascano and I are related to my 5th great-grandfather Zilphy Claud (1820-1893). The children of my 4th cousin Darlene Byrd Lascano and Juan Bosco Lascano are Juan Lascano Jr. (b. 1990) and Bianca Lascano (b. 1991), who are my 5th cousins. My 5th cousin Juan Lascano Jr. is married to Jasmine Lascano and their children are Luca Jay Bosco Lascano (b. 2020) and Lenix Lascano. Juan Lascano Jr. and Jasmine Lascano live in Charlotte, North Carolina. Bianca Lascano was born on August 4, 1991, in Portsmouth, Virginia, and she is married to Jonathan R. Nixon. Bianca Lascano and Jonathan R. Nixon live in Salisbury, Maryland. Juan Bosco Lascano Sr.'s living siblings are: Sandra Wood of Chesapeake, Virginia, Gloria Lascano of Panama City, Panama, Armando Lascano of Panama City, Panama, Mirella Lascano Newball of Panama City, Panama, Osvaldo Lascano (Marisol) of Woodbridge, Virginia, Jacqueline Orrock (Darren) of Chesapeake, Virginia and MartÃn Lascano (Vielka) of Panama City; his sisters-in-law, Zenova Hodge (Marc) of Woodbridge and Charlene Motley of Richmond; and his goddaughters, LaShawndra Walker of Chesterfield, Charmine Walker of Suffolk and Charrie Pomier of Henrico County. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and lifelong friends. The parents of Darlene Byrd Lascano were Ronald Daniels Byrd (1933-1987) and Pearly Dimples Williams (1934-1990). The parents of Pearly Dimples Williams were Luther Williams (1910-2003) and Vernie Britt Wynn (1913-1985). The parents of Luther Williams were James Edward Williams (1877-1950) and Miranda Williams (1880-1964). The parents of James Edward Williams were Nottoway descendant John Henry Williams (1857-1921) and Adaline Hill (1862-1930). The parents of Adaline Hill were Tom Hill (1838-1915) and Sarah Claud (1842-1892). The mother of my 4th great-grandmother Sarah Claud was my 5th great-grandmother Zilphy Claud (1820-1893).
5. I found out that Jennifer Elise Bush is my fifth paternal cousin. She was born in Dallas, Texas. Her parents are Myron Johnson (b. 1962) and Nedra Dean Bush (1960-2006). The parents of Myron Johnson were Charles Edward Johnson (1937-2019) and Emma Celestine Satchell (1938-2014). The parents of my 4th cousin Emma Celestine Satchell were Welton Nobel Satchell (1920-2004) and Ollie Satchell (1923-2000). The parents of Welton Nobel Satchell were Nobel Satchel (1904-1961) and Maggie Giddings (b. 1905). The parents of Nobel Satchell were Jackson Satchel (b. 1845) and Harriet Susan Kelley (1860-1927). The parents of my 1st cousin Harriet Susan Kelley were George Kelly and Easter Perkins (1840-1910). The parents of my 3rd great-grandaunt Easter Perkins were my 4th great-grandparents George Perkins I (b. 1815) and Esther Perkins (b. 1816). So, Jennifer and I share my 4th great-grandparents George and Esther Perkins at the end of the day.
6. My paternal 5th late cousin was Francine Georgette Ames Wescott. She was born on August 17, 1964 at Northampton County, Virginia. That is in the Virginia Eastern Shore. Her first child with James L. Johnson Sr. is Jasmine Cherie Ames (b. 1988). Later, Francine Georgette Ames married Theodore Abron Wescott (b. 1965) on June 15, 1996 at Northampton County, Virginia. The couple had the child of Deion Wescott. Francine's parents are George Francis Ames (b. 1940) and Annie Treheme (1939-1994). Francine's siblings are Baby Ames (1958-1958), Regina Laverne Ames Darby (b. 1966), Carla Irene Ames (b. 1969), and Stephanie Latoya Ames (b. 1977). Carla Irene Ames married James William Owens on December 26, 2008, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The parents of Annie Treherne were Amos Treherne (b. 1918) and Marie Satchel (1923-1979). The parents of Marie Satchel were Nobel Satchel (1904-1961) and Maggie Giddings (b. 1905). The parents of Nobel Satchel were Jackson Satchel (b. 1845) and Harriet Susan Kelley (1860-1927). The parents of Harriet Susan Kelley were George Kelley (b. 1830) and Easter Perkins (1840-1910). The parents of Easter Perkins were my 4th great-grandparents of George Perkins (b. 1815) and Esther Perkins (b. 1816).
8. My late paternal 3rd cousin Lola Satchell has a long history. She lived from May 29, 1923, to January 13, 1999. She was born in Northampton, Virginia, which is found in the Eastern Shore of Virginia. She married Ollie D. Kates (b. 1918-1989) on January 12, 1940, at Birdsnet, Virginia. Their children are Gloria E. Kates (b. 1941), Ester Lee Kates Crumbley (1941-2006. She married James L. Crumbley, who lived from 1943 to 2007), Levin Nathaniel Kates (b. 1954), and Ollie M. Kates Jr. (b. 1944). My fourth cousin Gloria Elizabeth Kates lived from June 10, 1940, to August 10, 2011 (in Nassawdox, Virginia being in the Virginian Eastern Shore). Gloria Elizabeth Kates married James Leroy Johnson (b. 1937), and they had many children who are: Christa Ann Johnson (b. 1963), Alicia Mae Johnson Richardson (b. 1976), James Johnson Jr., and Tony Johnson. Christa Ann Johnson married Ronald Donovan Church (b. 1959) on November 30, 1987, at Northampton County, Virginia. They divorced in 1995. Alicia Mae Johnson Richardson married Zachary Troy Richardson on June 11, 2005, at Northampton County, Virginia.
9. My last 3rd cousin Johnnie McCoy Williams lived from August 22, 1940, at Southampton County, Virginia to March 30, 2023.He married Beatrice Lavonne Walker (b. 1944) on July 25, 1966, at Nansemond, Virginia (at East End Baptist Church). Johnnie was educated in the Southampton County school system, and he played football in high school. He loved to fish, draw, and paint. He was also a fan of the NFL team of the Washington Commanders. Going outdoors to garden was part of his life too. He attended Norfolk State University as an Art major. He was in the U.S. Army via the draft too. When he came home in 1968, he was part of the Suffolk Police Department where he was one of the first black officers in the department. He enrolled at Paul D. Camp College, where he graduated with honors. He served as Chief of Campus Police on the campus of Norfolk State University and later being in the Suffolk Sheriff Department. Johnnie McCoy Williams and Beatric Lavonne Walker had 2 sons who are Darryl Williams of Portsmouth Virginia and Keith Williams of McKinney, Texas. Johnnie McCoy Williams's parents were Johnnie Thomas Williams (1912-1977) and Irene Turner (1921-1994). The parents of Johnnie Thomas Williams were Peter Percy Williams (1860-1949) and Hattie E. Joyner (b1881-1959). The parents of Peter Percy Williams were Adaline Hill (1862-1930) and John Henry Williams (1857-1921). The parents of my 3rd great-grandaunt Adaline Hill are Thomas Hill (1835-1930) and my 4th great-grandmother Sarah Claud (1842-1892). The mother of Sarah Claud was my 5th great-grandmother Zilphy Claud (1820-1893). The five grandchildren of Johnnie McCoy Williams Jr. are Christopher Williams (Mallorie), Alicia Williams (Pastor Terrell), Darryl Williams Jr., Keith Williams, Jr. and Zuri Williams. The four great-grandchildren of Johnnie McCoy Williams are Jaxon, Journee, Jahna, and Averie.
10. My late 3rd cousin Kermit Keesee Williams Sr. lived from June 23, 1942, to January 29, 2022. She married Faye Diana Duck on June 8, 1968, in Suffolk, Virginia. Kermit Williams Sr. was a U.S. Navy veteran. He graduated from Southampton County Training School. His apprenticeship was finished at Tidewater Community College. He retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard with 26 years of experience. The couple of Kermit Williams Sr. and Faye Diana Duck have the children of Andria L. Williams, Linda D. Edward, and Kermit K. Williams Jr. The couple's grandchildren are Sherika Jones, Janelle D. Bronw, Calvin L. Edwards Jr., Deja L. Edwards, Samuel Body III, Kayla Edwards, and Malia Edwards. The couple's great-grandchildren are Kaleb Edwards, Christopher Brown Jr., Greyson Brown, Samuel Body IV, Zayla Body, and Caveal Brown. The siblings of Kermit Keesee Williams Sr. are: Johnnie Williams Jr., Shelton Williams, Sandra Gaskins (her deceased spouse is Gary Gaskins), Calin Williams, Wanda Hughes, Frieda Cason (and her spouse Minister DeWayne Cason), Andre Sharrod Williams, Jacqueline Ware, Joan Wilson, and Larry Williams. Kermit Williams Sr. is a brother of Johnnie McCoy Williams, so we are all descendants of my 5th great-grandmother Zilphy Claud (1820-1893).
